At Wallands we are dedicated to creating a happy, safe and inspiring learning environment based on mutual respect and trust for everyone in the school community.
As a Rights Respecting School we see social development as a vital part of the developmental journey towards responsible citizenship and to enable all children to achieve their full potential. We support children to become positive, responsible and independent members of the school community through building their self-esteem, and in turn respect for others, by ensuring that everyone takes responsibility for their actions and choices, becoming aware of how their behaviour impacts on others around them.
We believe that everyone has a part to play. Everyone has the right in our school to learn, be respected, be safe and be listened to. Children have the responsibility to observe the School Charter rules, which are a set of rights and responsibilities based on the United Nations Convention:
- We are fair, kind and respectful
- We listen to others
- We help everyone to play and learn
- We look after our learning environment
- We try hard and do our best
- We persevere, work hard and encourage others to do the same
Staff and Governors of the school have the responsibility to ensure the effective implementation of the policy. The school makes every effort to make reasonable adjustments to meet the needs of all pupils.
It is the whole school community’s responsibility to ensure the principles of the behaviour.
